About Homeport
Homeport is the United States Coast Guard’s enterprise Internet portal for the Maritime Community. It was initially designed to support the secure information sharing requirements resulting from the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA) and to provide information about the USCG’s primary missions.
Homeport has also come to support the Federal Water Pollution Control Act and the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act. Both acts require plans to be filed with the USCG in the event that certain tank or non-tank vessels have an environmental mishap.
To accomplish these goals, Homeport’s secure, role-based environment brings together US Coast Guard personnel, members of the Maritime Community, and other designated individuals allowing them to share information quickly. In addition, Maritime Community members can receive pertinent information from the Coast Guard, submit and edit security plans or vessel response plans, and collaborate in user-specific communities. ?
System Requirements for Using Homeport
The US Coast Guard is dedicated to using technology in innovative ways. However, there are some things to keep in mind when using Homeport. First, all Internet browsers read source code differently. With this in mind, the US Coast Guard designed Homeport to ensure the majority of our users would get the best site performance.
Homeport supports various devices and browsers. However, ActiveX controls are utilized to provide some functionality. Users of browsers without support for ActiveX controls may experience limitations when using Homeport. It is recommended users view the site using Internet Explorer 8 or greater.
Homeport is best viewed at a monitor resolution of 1280x1024.
Users on networks with proxy servers may also experience problems when using Homeport. This is due to the way proxy servers interact with web pages on the Internet and not a problem inherent with Homeport.
